Understanding Production Costs and Calculating Profits

At K3Ts, we believe in transparency, and that includes helping our partners understand how production costs impact their earnings. This page explains the cost breakdown for each product option, including base production costs, additional fees for multiple print locations, and larger sizes. Use the chart below to calculate potential profits based on your chosen selling price.

How to Calculate Your Profit

The production cost is the baseline to determine how much you want to sell each item for and how your profits will be calculated. Here’s an example:

Example Calculation: If you select the Gildan 5000 T-shirt with a base production cost of $9.14 and set a selling price of $30, the profit would be $20.86. As a Premium partner (25% profit share), you would earn $5.22 per item sold.

Plus Size Example: If the T-shirt is sold in size XXL, the production cost would be $10.89, resulting in a profit of $19.11. The partner’s share (25%) would be $4.78.

Profits for each item are calculated by CollabPay and paid out monthly, with no upfront costs or production liabilities for you.

How Production Costs Work

Each item has a base production cost that covers the blank item, printing on one location, packaging, preparation, and handling. Here’s a breakdown of what is included:

• Blank Item Cost: The cost of the blank apparel or merchandise.

• Printing: One print location is included in the base cost.

• Packaging and Preparation: Each item is carefully packaged and prepared for shipping.

If you want to add extra print locations or offer larger sizes, it adds to production cost. These adjustments help you calculate your profits based on your selling price. Availability varies depending on the item.

• Plus sizes cost extra due to increased material requirements. Each size up follows pattern +$1.75 per size.

• XXL: +$1.75

• XXXL: +$3.50

On-Demand Production:

Items are only printed when an order is made. This means that the production cost (including any additional fees for extra print locations or larger sizes) is subtracted from the purchase price to cover the production. The remaining profit percentage is calculated and transferred to your CollabPay account for monthly payouts.

Notes for Partners

Selecting Print Locations & Sizes: You can specify your preferred print locations, colors, and size options through notes in the design service or during communication stages of product development.

On-Demand Production: All items are printed only when an order is made, so there are no upfront production costs. Production costs, including any additional fees, are subtracted from the sale price to determine your profit.

Monthly Payouts: Profits are calculated automatically by CollabPay and reflected in your sales report. Returns are automatically adjusted in your account and will be detailed in your monthly sales report.

The above charts and information help you set optimal prices for your collection, enabling you to maximize profits. Whether you’re adding new products or adjusting current ones, you’ll have a clear understanding of potential earnings.

Product Listing Fees

Each item listed in your collection requires a product listing fee. Here’s how it works:

• Monthly Listing Credits: Each partnership tier includes monthly credits that cover a set number of listings. These credits automatically renew each month.

• Additional Listings: After using your monthly credits, additional items can be added at a small fee per listing.

The listing fee covers the setup and maintenance of each product in your collection, ensuring your items are available for purchase year-round.
